Mingjie Lei
The Chinese tenor Mingjie Lei studied at the conservatories of Beijing, New York and Philadelphia. He gained international attention by winning several prestigious singing competitions such as Neue Stimmen (2017) and BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition (2019). He performed leading roles at renowned opera companies such as Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Opera Vlaanderen and Staatsoper Stuttgart. His repertoire consists of roles such as Ernesto Don Pasquale, Tamino Die Zauberflöte, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni, Don Narciso Il turco in Italia and Fenton Falstaff. He made his debut at Dutch National Opera Missa in tempore belli (2021).
December 2023, tenor Mingjie Lei takes on the challenging role of Prince Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at Dutch National Opera & Ballet.
