Viola Cheung
Soprano Viola Cheung graduated as a master's student from both the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. Following her successful debut as Königin der Nacht in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in 2017, Cheung toured 18 cities in the Netherlands and Belgium with this role between 2019 and 2020. In 2021, she performed, among others the role of Liù in Puccini's Turandot. In season 2022-2023, she took on the role of La Fée in Massenet's opera Cendrillon at the 2023 Trentino Music Festival. She has also performed more than 30 premieres of new compositions, including a leading role in Seconds of Fear by Kaori Neus, a talent production at DNO’s Opera Forward Festival.
Viola Cheung sings the role of one of the six Mädchen in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, which will be performed at Dutch National Opera from 6 September to 27 September 2023.
