Sytske van der Ster
Sytske van der Ster graduated from the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam in 2001 and is known for her (leading) roles in various television series and films. As a director, she has a fascination for strong women. In 2016, she produced the intimate music theatre show Nico, on The Velvet Underground’s singer, for Theaterfestival Boulevard. In 2018, she created and directed the music theatre performance Hold On, which featured three women interpreting Tom Waits’ work. She directed the performance Sofasessies by Marian Mudder and coaches emerging cabaret and kleinkunst talent in creating their solo programmes. She has been the artistic director of Stichting Boon en Ster since 2022, alongside her husband Dante Boon. With this foundation, she hopes to have a variety of stories heard in the theatre, ‘other stories’ that are relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community and serve as an inspiration for women.
