Carpool via Slinger
We’re committed to reducing CO₂ emissions from audience travel. With Slinger, visitors can now carpool – it’s cheaper, greener, and more social!
Did you know that 22% of Dutch National Opera & Ballet’s total CO₂ emissions come from audience travel? Of the roughly 235,000 people who visit us each year, 28% come by car. Carpooling is a great way to make these trips more sustainable, so we’ve partnered with Slinger to make ride-sharing easy.
How it works
The Slinger widget appears in the bottom left of our site, like on the ‘Plan your visit’ page. Through the widget, you can offer your empty car seats to fellow visitors, who can then contact you by email to arrange details such as meeting spots or sharing fuel or parking costs. Looking to carpool? Just select a ride in the widget, leave a message, and confirm the arrangements over email.
Leading the way with Slinger
Slinger has primarily been used for festivals and sports events, and Dutch National Opera & Ballet is the first theatre in the Netherlands to adopt it. Although we’re located in central Amsterdam, our productions attract audiences from all over the country. By promoting shared rides, we’re encouraging our audience to travel together. Carpooling is not only cost-effective and eco-friendly but also a unique way to connect with other opera and ballet fans.
