Information about ticket sales, subscriptions and series, payment options, discounts, the ticket exchange service, the seating plan, introductory talks and the webshop.

How to book

You can buy tickets in the following ways:

  • Through this website, to do so select the performance via programme and then 'buy tickets'
  • By phone via our customer service -  020 62 55 45 5:

    - Monday to Friday from 12.00 - 18.00.
    - Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 12.00 - 15.00. 
    - After 18.00 only for questions related to the evening performance; 020 - 5518119.
    - Customer Service is closed on Sundays and public holidays when there is no performance.

The Box Office is only open from two hours before the start of a performance on the Main Stage and one hour before the start of a performance in Studio Boekman. You will find the Box Office in the foyer, after access through the main entrance at your left.

The amount due can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), iDEAL, Podiumcadeaukaart or NOB Cadeaukaart. For orders by phone or internet, there is a €2 booking fee per ticket (with a maximum of €20).

Season packages

A season package (former subscriptions) has many advantages. Follow the link below for an explanation and all the benefits of a season package.

Single ticket sales

Single tickets are released for sale at two different moments. From the 7th of May, you can purchase tickets for the first half of the season, and from the 22nd of August for the second half of the season.

First half of the season

Seating plan

You can find seating plans for the opera and ballet performances below.

Wheelchair seating

Both the Main Stage and Studio Boekman have wheelchair spaces with room for an accompanying visitor. Tickets for wheelchair seating can only be ordered by phone (020 6255455).

Ticket exchange

You cannot return your tickets, and we do not refund money - except to people living abroad.

However, you have two options for exchanging your tickets. You can directly exchange or sell your purchase using our Ticket Exchange service. This service is provided at no cost. You can also exchange your purchase through the box office. This can only be done over the phone and up to one day before the performance unless the box office is closed that day. In that case, you can only exchange tickets at the box office up to two days before the performance. The box office will charge € 3,00 per ticket for this service, plus any possible extra cost. Please check in advance whether there are enough seats available in the same price category on the date of your choice. You can reach our box office by phone at (020) 6 255 455.

Gift card

With the Dutch National Opera & Ballet gift card you can enjoy all the beautiful things we have to offer. You can pay for your order with our gift card.

Introductions

An introduction with background information will take place 45 minutes before the start of the Main Stage performances, which offers interesting perspectives on the performance, allowing you to get even more out of your theatre visit. Introductions are in Dutch and are free for all ticket holders. The speaker will be using sound amplification. There are no introductions before the performances at Studio Boekman.

'Dynamic' pricing

For all performances within Dutch National Opera & Ballet we use a system of dynamic pricing. The closer to the premiere date, the greater the chance of a higher ticket price. Book early and save.

Advance ticket sales

Tickets for Dutch National Opera performances at venues other than National Opera & Ballet can be purchased at the box office. Tickets for performances at venues other than National Opera & Ballet can be purchased at the theatre where the performance will take place.

Discounts

Dutch National Opera & Ballet offers a discount on the price of admission when presenting a CJP, Stadspas Amsterdam and to youth up to 16 years old. A last minute admission price of € 19 applies to students, available at the box office from 1½ hours before the performance. Tickets for the student rate can also be purchased online from 13:00 on the day of the performance. Please note that the relevant discount card or student ID must be shown when entering the theater.

Surtitles Dutch National Opera

Surtitles at the Main Stage are available from all ranks, in both Dutch and English. There are no surtitles in Studio Boekman.

Sold out?

Even if the performance is sold out, you may still be able to attend! You can be added to the waiting list by contacting 020 625 54 55. Tickets are also often available through our online ticket exchange. Additionally, serial numbers are available at the Box Office beginning one hour before the performance. All uncollected tickets will be sold beginning half an hour before the start time, with a limit of two tickets per person, in order of attendance.
