Dutch National Opera & Ballet’s response to the advice of the Council for Culture
Today, Wednesday 3 July 2024, the Council for Culture announced their advice on the subsidy applications submitted for the Dutch basic cultural infrastructure 2025-2028.
We are very pleased that the Council has positively assessed the policy plans of Dutch National Opera & Dutch National Ballet and is advising the Minister of Education, Culture and Science to grant the requested subsidy amounts.
We are also pleased with the substantive foundation provided by the Council, in which the plans for the next four years, partly based on the successes recognized by the Council in recent years, have been assessed with confidence and appreciation.
Two and a half weeks ago, the National Ballet, which is subsidized by both the Municipality of Amsterdam and the Central Government, also received a positive advice from the Amsterdam Arts Council. It should be noted that there is still a proposed discount from the Municipality of Amsterdam, which will be decided on Tuesday, July 16.
This advice from the Council for Culture, together with the positive advice from the Amsterdam Arts Council, gives us the confidence to continue building on the course we have set.
