This is the winner of ARIA 2024

Leander Carlier is the winner of the MAX opera talent show ARIA. In a spectacular finale on Sunday evening, he competed against Sabra El Bahri Khatri and Nima Pournaghshband.

Each of the three finalists performed an impressive aria, accompanied by the National Youth Orchestra conducted by Leonard Evers. Leander chose ‘Mein Sehnen, mein Wähnen’ from the opera Die tote Stadt. His emotional rendition deeply moved the jury, who foresee a promising career for him on the opera stage.

Leander wins a place in the Opera Studio of Dutch National Opera. In this program, young singers are prepared for an international opera career under the artistic direction of Rosemary Joshua.

After much speculation, the finale finally revealed the identity of the Secret Judge. Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek, who has performed major title roles at prestigious opera houses worldwide, played the decisive role this season in advancing candidates to the next round.
